Being a Buddhist, the life of Buddha has always fascinated me. This is a BBC documentary posted in YouTube and made popular in Digg.

Give Me a Pint and some S, I will Visit Your Website
While doing research on various types of web consumers, I came across this excellent report from the Forrester Group by Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff. They have divided the social media participants into six categories based on how consumers approach social technologies.
A whooping 13% US adult users are creators who publish web pages, write blogs and upload videos to social video sites like YouTube. That is 13 million US adults who are spending time, and occasionally earning money, in creating information. No wonder sometimes I get lost in the web!.
I kept asking myself why do I visit a web site? Besides the creators type, the Forrester's report talks about other social web participants like inactives, spectators, joiners, collectors, and critics. They used this action based classification system to help businesses formulate their social web strategy. I wanted a need or desire based classification. What is my need or desire to visit a web site?
The first clue I got while I was watching the TV. I watch a TV to get information and also for entertainment. I visit a web site to get information. Sometimes I share information using comments or reviews. I do this for the sheer pleasure of expressing my opinions on a topic or my knowledge about a product or service.
I scan digg's offbeat news, visit a game site, read celebrity news, or stumble upon some weird sites for entertainment and pleasures.
Over the past few years lots of us have established a profound interface with the web technology. This interface allows us to discard old ways of doing some of our chores. For example, I hardly go to a bank teller, or send bills using the postal services.
The second clue I got while paying my credit card bills using the bank's online payment system. I visit a site to get stuff done. Even when you visit a classified site to post an ad, you want to accomplish a task, i.e. posting your ad for whatever you are selling.
The web has given me an excellent opportunity to fulfill the desire of acquiring stuff, either for free or by paying money, leaning back on a chair. I will visit your website if you are selling something at a competitive price or giving it away for free.
The new breed of social web sites is my playground to connect with real life friends and also establish virtual friends with the hope of in-person encounters in the future, if possible.
I have found my calling. Give me pleasure (P), information (I), networking (N), task (T) and some shopping (S), I will visit your website.

In October, all registered users will earn prize points at DigMyPage by inviting friends to join the site and commenting on the posted blog or news articles. The details of the prize points are published here. You can quickly earn a few hundred points if you are able to convince a couple of your friends to join DigMyPage. And it is free to join.
I want to build this site slowly and I want quality articles for teaser pages. If you believe you have an article that provides some value, including entertainment and a good laugh, to its readers, go ahead and publish a small snippet of the the article.
I know there are a lot of good posts that never see the homepage of digg or other big name popularity voting sites. DigMyPage provides you another opportunity to republish your articles. You want more links and more readers, right? So, what is the harm. You cannot lose.
Now coming back to the Sansa e600 MP3 players for the prize. I have one and absolutely love it. By the way, it is an MP3 player, a video player, a voice recorder, and it has an on-board FM radio with recording capability. Gizmodo has a nice video review of the player and concludes that it is better than iPod nano.
Find a Website Challenge
Find a Website Challenge
I am challenging anybody to find a website that gives all the following benefits. If you find a site that gives these benefits, besides DigMyPage, I can create up to 10 traffic pages.
A site that provides real value to its visitors and engage site visitors in repeat visits for a reason.
A site offering fully customized traffic pages for free.
A site that allows users full control over when and what anchor texts, displayed on the site's homepage, link to their free pages.
A site that allows advertisers keep revenue generated from their paid pages.
A site that allows advertisers sale their paid pages anytime without paying anything to the site owner.
A website that has ever given so much control to its advertisers for free
A site that provides social web tools like inviting friends and creating social networks.
A site that has a patent pending model to prevent copy cats and even big name websites from implementing similar advertising concepts without licensing fees.
A Novel Method to Link Your Anchor Text on the Site's Homepage
A Novel Method to Link Your Anchor Text on the Site's Homepage
DigMyPage is the only site on the web that gives you control over when you want to push your traffic page on the site's homepage. You just need to post a teaser page and the system will automatically link your purchased word on the homepage. There is no random rotation or any such crazy thing.
If you own multiple traffic pages, you will select one of your traffic page from a drop down list to anchor on the the homepage when you post a teaser page..
Where do you get contents for teaser pages? If you own a blog you have plenty of teaser pages. Each article you write for your blog can be a teaser page. Just don't spam the site. I want good quality teaser pages on the homepage for establishing a long time traffic strategy. The visitors must have a reason to visit the site again and again (repeat visit).
If you have interesting videos uploaded in YouTube, those can serve as teaser pages. Just provide a 50-word description and embed your YouTube video. You can also upload images from your hard drive. Please review the picture upload instructions here. The procedure is the same for both traffic pages and teaser pages. I will also install pictures and slideshows from Flickr if the users want to have the functionality.
You can also post snippets of interesting articles that you come across during your visits to your favorite sites. The site visitors will be exposed to high quality contents. By means of this sharing of information, you will be able to make somebody happy.
